Odom of Teague passed into the great beyond from the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Fern Lott Morgan of Mexia. We know that as she entered the depot of death a convoy of angels meet her and accompanied her soul into that celestial home. As they neared the gates of the city of god they sang the Anthem, Lift up ye heads, o ye gates, and be ye lifted, up ye everlasting doors and let the child of glory come in. Truly mother Odom, was a child of glory. She was one of the most lovable and lovely characters. She possessed all the true and fine traits of woman and womanhood. Gentle, refined, unassuming, placid, devoted and self sacrificing to her friends and her children. She loved her children with that unusual tenderness and was mindful at all times in their comfort and pleasure. This love and devotion was reciprocated by her strong and stalwart boys and her daughters-in-law that most tender and affectionate way. She loved her grandchildren and they too minister to her every comfort and desire. Mrs. Odom had been suffering for several years but in this she was calm, patient, and uncomplaining. She waited patiently for the summons and looked forward with faith and hope to her reception into the home of the redeemed. She died as calmly and peacefully as she lived. At the last she looked sweetly into the faces of loved ones standing near and said, "I'm dying" and then closed her eyes and went to sleep. Mrs. Odom was born near Hopkinsville, Kentucky Dec. 1884. She was 77 years, 11 months and 11 days old when she went away. She was married in Kentucky to J. F. WITHROW in 1867. To this union was born five boys and four girls. She was converted at an early age and joined the Methodist church. A few months ago she joined the Baptist Church and was baptized by the Pastor, Rev. E. Homer TIREY. Surviving here are the four sons, L. H., F. E., D. D., and W. W. of Teague, and two daughters, Mrs. W. J. LOTT of Dallas and Mrs. E. A. KELLER of Sedan, Kansas, also a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home of F. E. WITHROW of Teague Nov. 23. Services were conducted by her Pastor, Rev. E. Homer TIREY. Interment was made in Lake Chapel Cemetery east of Fairfield. Mother Odom is not dead for her works do follow her, Oh love that takes away confused and faint on thee we fall, we know not how we ought to pray. We deeply sympathize with the bereft, but would point them to the life as lived by their mother, for if lived like that, they will meet her in the sweet by and by.
