Mr. Odom's death came as a great shock to his family and friends. He was about 42 years of age, strong and robust. There was not, we believe, a better man or citizen in Freestone Co., than Ep Odom, and his death is a great loss to his family, friends and community. His remains were interred in the Lake Chapel cemetery, Saturday evening, with Masonic honors. He was a member of the Baptist church and a Woodman. Odom To the Worshipful Master, Wardens and Brethren of Fairfield Lodge, No. 103, A.F. & A.M. Whereas, our most worthy brother, E. W. Odom, in obedience to that summons which all men at some time must heed, has gone from toils and labors of this world to where the tide of life's troubled sea ebbs and flows no more; Therefore be it Resolved, by Fairfield Lodge, No. 103, A.F. & A.M., that in the death of Bro. Odom, this Lodge has lost one of its truest and most devoted members, our county one of its best citizens - a true and honorable man - who has done his part toward making humanity happier and the world better. Epp, as he was familiarly known to his friends, was born in Cannon Co., Tenn., Oct. 12, 1862, and died Oct. 7, 1910, thus lacking five days of being 48 years old. His parents came to Texas when he was about 6 years of age, settling on what is known as Ward Prairie, where Epp continued to live till his death. He and Miss Lizzie Chappell were united in marriage Sept. 13, 1885. His wife being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Chappell. His wife, eight children and two grandchildren survive him. Bro. Odom was indeed a most exemplary citizen; kind, gentle, charitable - everyone liked him - diligent, energetic, honorable, he prospered greatly. Epp Odom's word was a warranty, better than stocks, bonds or written security - these things sometimes fail, but to a true man's word there is no failure or statute of limitations - such was Epp Odom's. Sweet be your rest, brother; glorious be the memories that you carried with you to your long, long home, if memories live beyond the grave; lasting, true and unbroken be the joys you gather on the harvest field of eternity. Be it further Resolved, by this Lodge, that our sincere sympathy be extended to said Mrs. Lizzie Odom and family; and that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the minutes of this Lodge, a copy be sent to the family of our deceased brother, a copy furnished to the Fairfield Recorder for publication. Respectfully submitted R. L. Williford L. C. Kirgan I. N. Robertson Committee
