Mexia Daily News - Oct. 24, 2003 edition Freddie Owens TEAGUE - Funeral services for Freddie Owens, 58, will be this afternoon at 3 o'clock in Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Tom Prentiss. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Mr. Owens, born March 8, 1945, in Mexia, died Wednesday in East Texas Medical Center at Fairfield. He was a Methodist, and the joy of his life was spending time with his friends and visiting his neighborhood. A major part of his life was spending time at the Mary McLeod Dunlap Training Center. He loved the Center and loved his dog, Nicki. He is survived by his mother, Margie Owens; a brother, Kenneth Owens of Teague; a sister, Carol Hassell and husband Leslie of Glen Rose; a niece, Wendy Gallegos and husband Michael of Fairfield; two nephews, Eric and Adam Hassell of Glen Rose; a great-niece and great-nephew, Madelyn and Carson Gallegos of Fairfield; other relatives and many friends. Freddie was preceded in death by his father, Fred Owens. Memorials may be made to the Mary McLeod Dunlap Training Center at Teague.
