Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Willie David Owens The angelic hosts came for Willie David Owens, 75, on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at his Teague residence, among loving family and devoted friends. A viewing will be held Friday, April 4, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. at Moore’s Angelic Funeral Home, with the family receiving visitors from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, in the First Baptist Church, 209 N. 6th Ave. in Teague. Rev. Carlos Daniels will officiate and apostle David Ransom will serve as the eulogist. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Fairfield. Willie David Owens was born March 14, 1939 in Sewards Mill, Freestone County, the third child of Willie Dexter Owens and Ruth Johnson Owens. He grew up in Fairfield and attended public schools there. Willie was baptized at St. Paul COGIC under the leadership of Rev. Vernon Jessie, where he served as a deacon. At the time of his death, he served as chairman of the deacon board at House of Prayer Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Imogene Owens. He married Imogene Abram on June 20, 1959. To this union 13 children were born. He was employed as a truck driver for more than 50 years. After retiring, he went to work as a bus driver for Teague Independent School District. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Maxine Owens, and three grandchildren. Those who will cherish his memory include: his wife, Imogene Abram Owens; sons, Joe and wife Rachel, James and wife Paula, LaMarcus, and Terry Crawford and wife Evelyn; daughters, Charlotte Bonner and husband Freddie, Barbara Brackens, Cynthia Carter and husband Dyrnny, Regina Shepherd and husband Michael, Sharon Coleman and husband Charles, Carmelia Stephens and husband Jeffery, Drusillia Forward and husband Russell, Shelia McWilliams and husband Ivan, Celesta Herod and husband Nemier, Marcia Gibson and husband Charles Jr., NaKesia Thurman and husband Robert, and Elizabeth Nickleberry and husband Chris; sisters, Alice Owens, Katherine Owens, Debbie Jones, Dorothy Brown, Annie Mae Owens and Lela Mae Johnson; brothers, Willie James Owens, Johnny Johnson and Odell Johnson; 46 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Rob McWilliams, Charles Johnson, Donald Parks and Ike Carden.
