Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [This is Celia Ann Alice (Horn) Owens w/o Thomas Jackson Owens. (10 Jun 1838-27 Mar 1898) Buried at Hickory Grove/Jameson Cemetery.] Fairfield Recorder - April 1, 1898 issue Died - Mrs. Celia Owens died last Saturday evening, at the 27th inst. at the residence of her son, Mr. D. W. Owens, a few miles east of Fairfield. Deceased was 59 years old. She was to this county from Alabama after the war, her husband having been killed in the late war between the states. Mrs. Owens was a sister of Mr. W. L. Horn, for many years a citizen of this country, now living in Indian Territory. She had been in failing health several years, and her illness finally developed into dropsy from which she suffered several months. The end finally came and on last Sunday evening the aged mother fell asleep to awake the resurrection morn. She was a member of the Baptist Church and her remains were laid to rest in the old Rehoboth neighborhood cemetery near Young, Rev. E. J. Brown officiating. Besides other relatives to mourn her loss, she leaves two sons, Messrs. T.F. and D.W. Owens.
