Freestone County, Texas Obits Houston Chronicle newspaper - Tuesday 01/04/2005 edition PARTIN February 26, 1922 to January 1, 2005 HEADLEE A. "DOC" PARTIN, age 82, died January 1, 2005. He was born on February 26, 1922 in Teague, Texas to Sam and Mary Partin. He graduated from Teague High School in 1940. He married Rose Pickard on December 31, 1948 in Houston, Texas. Doc entered the United States Marine Corp in 1942. As a part of the 5th Marine Division he participated in the invasion and taking of Iwo Jima in World War II. He was employed for 17 years with Sears & Roebuck, owned a Lafayette Radio Electronic store in Alvin, and taught appliance repair at Alvin Community College and Alvin High School. For 20 years Doc was the public address announcer at Alvin High School sporting events, and he was known as "Uncle Doc" to the young ladies on the Alvin High School Drill team. Doc loved golf and in his retirement he was employed at Hillcrest Golf Course in Alvin. For many years he was an active member of the Houston Power Squadron. He was a member of the Methodist Church and served in a variety of capacities thorough the years. He deeply loved his family and friends. Supporting, encouraging and nurturing youth was very important to him. Teaching, coaching and being a friend was his way of caring about children and youth. Doc and his wife moved to Waxahachie in 2002 to be near their daughter. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Waxahachie. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rose Partin, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by his daughter Mary Nell Partin, sister, Atla Partin Harper and numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Services will be at First United Methodist Church, Waxahachie at 1:00 PM Tuesday, January 4, 2005 with interment following at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 3:00 PM. Dr. Richard Reed, Rev. Kevin Wilson and Rev. Brenda Wier will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Boze-Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Monday, January 3, 2005 from 6 to 8 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
