"COTTON GIN CORRESPONDENCE - June 25th, 1888
  Since we last wrote, death has visited us and taken two of our most substantial 
citizens, Mr. J. J. Robinson (familiarly known as Uncle John) and Mr. Thomas 
Patton.  The community feel very much the loss of such citizens, they both being 
among the oldest settlers in the county. Many sympathize with the families of 
the deceased."
