Freestone County, Texas Obituaries, Memorials, and Death Notices The Mexia Weekly Herald - Thursday, August 7, 1913 Page: 2 IN MEMORY OF MATTIE BESS PATTON On Tuesday morning July 8th 1913, as gently and naturaily as falls the even-tide, the earthly life of little Mafttne Boas Patton came to an end and her immortal Spirit sped home to God, who gave it. She was born in Cotton Gin, Texas, September 24th, 1912, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Patton. The few short months of her life was spent there, where she became endeared to all, for her presence was as sunlight to her home and her death has sunk the shaft of sorrow in the loving parents heart., that can be healed only by the comfort of Him who has promised to be witlh us in trouble. Weep not dear friends, but think of One "who careth for all," who lovetl little children even beyond others, and think of the bright and never ending life of that dear baby, whose spirit has passed away but for a brief time. She with her sister only waits in Heaven to greet the loving father and mother. He who hath taken your treasures, Making such an empty spaces, Will come and dwell in their place, Filling the void with grace, Heaven will be more homelike, Than ever your home below, When the summer comes at evening How sweet it will be to go, So grieve not your darlings are only waiting, To meet, you on the beautiful shore.
