Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper David Roland Pearson Funeral services will be held this weekend for David Roland Pearson, 57, of Springfield, Virginia who died Saturday, March 22, at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. Mr. Pearson was born in Pecos on April 17, 1950 to parents Robert and Billie Pearson. He and his wife Donna were married in March of 1967, and had two sons, Glenn David Pearson and Robert Franklin Pearson III. Mr. Pearson was a 1972 graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned a degree in curriculum and instruction. He worked as a teacher for the San Antonio Independent School District until he entered the United States Air Force in 1978. Stationed in Texas, Colorado, Maryland, Germany, Florida and at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., Pearson served his country during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He continued his military service until his retirement in 1993. During his time in the nation's capital, Mr. Pearson researched the naval history of the USS Freestone for the Freestone County Museum and provided them with photographs of the transport ship. Following his military service, Pearson was named partner at GKY and Associates, an engineering consulting company in Chantilly, Virginia. Mr. Pearson was an amateur radio operator and photographer and an avid tennis player who enjoyed piloting airplanes and participating in Rotary International. His own battle with pancreatic cancer spurred his involvement in the Pancreatic Action Network. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, at Fairfield Cemetery. Mr. Pearson is survived by wife Donna Pearson of Springfield, Virginia; sons Glenn Pearson and wife Luisa of Richardson, Robert Pearson and wife Becky of College Station; parents Robert and Billie Pearson of Fairfield; sister Debby Nickelson and husband John of Grand Prairie; grandchildren Jennifer, Emily and Christopher Pearson.
