Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder June 2008 William Melvin Persons Graveside services were held last week for William Melvin Persons, 82, of Pasadena who died Sunday, July 6. Mr. Persons was born in Teague on May 25, 1926, to Jessie James and Flora Lucinda Persons. As a child in Teague during the Depression, he ran an ice truck and mowed lawns to make money. Mr. Person graduated from Teague high school in 1944 and married Cora Grace Storey on Nov. 15 of the same year. Mr. Persons worked in the oil industry for 42 years as a refinery operator for Sinclair and ARCO Refineries in Pasadena. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 11, at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Mr. Persons is survived by his wife Cora Persons; daughter Sherian Burr of Plano; granddaughter Nicole Peters and husband Blair of Plano; grandson Kyle Burr and wife Lisa of Deer Park; great-grandchildren Quinn Peters, Reagan Peters and Sofia Burr; and nephew Lloyd Elton Persons. He was preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Flora Persons; daughter Geneva Gayle Persons; and brother Coleman Lee Persons. Arrangements were made by Bowers Funeral Home of Teague.
