Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - October 8, 2009 edition James "Lil James" Douglas Peters James "Lil James" Douglas Peters passed away Sept. 24, 2009 at Providence Medical Center of Waco among loving family and devoted friends. Viewing was Tuesday, September 29. Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Moore's Angelic Funeral Chapel. Rev. Cleo V. High, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Mexia, officiated. Interment was at Antioch Memorial Cemetery, Teague, with military funeral honors. Mr. Peters was born in Houston Feb. 2, 1932 to the late Saul Peters and Carrie Brown Peters. He grew up in Freestone county, and attended the Furney Richardson high school. He lived with his cousin, the late Ms. Cecile J. McGee, in Teague for a long time. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on October 15, 1956, and was a resident of the Teague Nursing Home at the time of his death. Mr. Peters is survived by son James Reggie Peters, Palmdale, CA, grandchildren Kreig and Ahleya Peters, Palmdale, CA, sisters Thelma Jackson and husband, Floyd, San Antonio, and Mary Francis Byrd, Lancaster, CA; Special family members Geraldine Jackson, Houston, Pattie Ruth Loyd, Houston, Marva McGee, Portland, Oregon, Laura Faulk, Moreno Valley, California, and Mae McGee and Charles McGee, Los Angeles, California.
