Phillips of Jamestown died Monday at a Sonora hospital. He was 91. He was born in Teague, Texas, and had lived in Jamestown for two years. He worked as a park ranger at Sly Park in Placerville for 20 years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1941-45. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Angels Camp. His family said he loved flying and horses. Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hazel Phillips of Jamestown; a son and daughter-in-law, Ralph W. and Nena Phillips of Sonora; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. At his request, there will be no services. Cremation is scheduled. Donations can be made to Visiting Nurse Association, Hospice of the Sierra, P.O. Box 4805, Sonora, CA 95370. Heuton Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
