Ed Ridge officiated at the service. Mrs. Pickens was born Sept. 23, 1931 in Freestone county. She was preceded in death by her parents Noel and Lula Harp Sawyers, husband Vanes Virgil “Red” Pickens, and brothers Alton L. Sawyers and Lester D. Sawyers. Survivors are son Donald Carruthers and wife Terri of Sweetwater, Texas, grandchildren Justin Carruthers and wife Kelly of Mt. Vernon, Jeffery Carruthers and wife Maria of Teague, Stacy Pierson and husband Shawn of Killeen and Kurt Carruthers of Sweetwater; Sisters Oma Lee Lewis of Corsicana, and Mammie Roberts and husband Kenneth of Teague, sister-in-law Jeraldine Sawyers, 10 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Mike Roberts, Ronnie Lee, Kenneth Lewis, Don Sawyers and Jackie Pickens. Honorary pallbearers were Matt Lee and Ronny Lewis.
