Freestone County, Texas Obituaries ROGER WAYNE PILLANS 2011-05-26 / Obituaries Funeral services were held Friday at Griffin- Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield for Roger Wayne Pillans, 58, of St. Elmo who died May 15 in Anderson county. Interment followed at St. Elmo Cemetery. Mr. Pillans was born June 18, 1952, in Corsicana to Wayne and Joyce Johnson Pillans. He was raised in St. Elmo where he lived all of his life. Mr. Pillans grew up farming and ranching at his father’s side and enjoyed playing football, baseball, hunting, and riding motorcycles with the other kids in St. Elmo. His passions were riding horses, working cows and roping. As an adult, he enjoyed operating trucks and heavy equipment, going to rodeos, roping and hunting. Mr. Pillans was saved at the age of 11 and served his Lord throughout his life. He attended Fairfield schools as well as Sam Houston State University before entering the public school teaching profession. Through those years he continued to assist his father in maintaining a farm and cattle operation. He is best known for playing pranks and jokes on unsuspecting people, especially his wife Linda and for sharing his love and understanding with everyone he encountered. Mr. Pillans was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Linda Pillans, mother Joyce Pillans, children Dana Rae Kennedy and husband Brad, Jerrod Pillans, Paige Spivey Almon and husband Wade, Kristy Spivey Reynolds and husband Ryan, Trent Spivey and Cody Saculla; grandchildren Rance Pillans, River Pillans, Laney Almon, Karter Almon, Landon Reynolds and Kate Reynolds; sister Judy Pillans Hagler and husband Corky; many nieces, nephews and loved ones. Pallbearers were Johnny Mack Johnson, Johnny Day Johnson, David Johnson, Ricky Johnson, Benny Pillans, Gary Pillans, Gary Myrle Pillans and Phil Pillans. Officiating services were Alton McCann and Johnny Saculla. Making arrangements was Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Fairfield.
