Pope Funeral Services Held on Monday Funeral services for Franklin Delano Pope, 69, of Mexia were held on Monday, April 11, 2005 in Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia with Rev. Rick Gray, Pastor and Rev. James Hooper, pastor of First Baptist Church in Hubbard officiating. Burial followed in Mexia Cemetery. Mr. Pope was born on March 25, 1936 in Hollandale, Mississippi and passed away on April 8, 2005 in a Dallas hospital. He served in 1952 in the U.S. Army; was a member of the VFW in Fairfield; was a telephone contractor and member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia. He lived in Mexia for the past 19 years prior to that in Fairfield and Burnett. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Franklin. Survivors are his wife, Doris Pope; a son, Billy R. King; daughters: Rebecca Norred and husband, Billy; Susie Colburn and husband, Doug; and Sherry Hernandez and husband, Nickie; stepsons: Michael Chaney and wife, Pam; Mark Chaney and wife, Laurie; Jeffrey Chaney and wife, Brenda; Daniel Story and wife, Veronica; 21 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Dennis Fowler, George Bell III, Boyd Walpole, Bill Harrison, Doug Herron and Gerald W. Everett. Blair-Stubbs Mexia was in charge of arrangements."
