Freestone County, Texas Obits Mexia Daily News - September 27, 2006 Alfred Porter, Jr. Alfred Porter, Jr., 60, who was reared in Teague, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006, in Long Beach, California. He also had resided in Los Angeles, California, before moving to Long Beach. He was born in Teague on August 13, 1946. Mr. Porter leaves to cherish his memory: sisters, Vonnie . Gipson and husband Melvin; a niece, Sonya, in Orange County, California; Billie F. Watts, nephew, Patrick, nieces Becky and Natalle in Lebanon, Tennessee; Betty L. Glasco, niece Paula, nephews, Robert and Rodney of Dallas; aunts, Mable D. Doss in St. Louis, Missouri, and Melvya J. Collins in Waco; an uncle, Trossie Johnson in Teague; and hosts of cousins and friends. Mr. Porter, who had joined the Job Corps, received training skills in Auto Mechanics and heavy equipment operations in Oregon. Funeral services for Mr. Porter were held this morning (Tuesday, September 26, 2006) at 11 o’clock in Dorsey-Keatts Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Lonnie Pelton officiated. Interment was in Antioch Memorial Cemetery-Teague, with friends of the family serving as pallbearers. Dinner was to be served at St. James United Methodist Church, 421 Tyler Street in Teague.
