  Miss Mattie Powell Dies Suddenly At Home Here
  
  Miss Mattie Powell, aged 73, died suddenly of a heart attack about 7:30 Tuesday 
evening at her home in Fairfield. Burial was in the Fairfield cemetery Wednesday
following services conducted by the Rev. W. R. Hall.
  Near surviving relatives are nine nieces and two nephews, Mrs. Tommie Collins
and Miss Margaret Gamewell of Dallas, Mrs. Moreland of Corsicana and Mrs. Ernest
Ham and Mrs. Sue Baggett of Teague, Mrs. Nina Keys, Misses Doll, Mary and Ella 
Powell, and Harry and Tom Powell.
  Miss Powell was a sister of the late Sheriff H. H. Powell, and she was the last
member of a family that settled here in the early days.
