Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Jacqueline Pratt Powers November 10, 1928 - April 4, 2010 Jacqueline Pratt Powers, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. She passed peacefully at her home in Teague, Texas with loved ones by her side. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Fairfield Christian Center with Pastor Buddy (Eston) Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Jacqueline was born to Earl and Thelma Morris Cowell in Newport, Arkansas on November 10, 1928. After her parents divorced she and her father moved to Galveston. While working at the soda fountain in Woolworths she met and later married Mortimer Dewitt Pratt, Jr. of Norwalk, Connecticut who was stationed in Galveston with the U.S. Army Air Corp. They were married on February 4, 1945. They moved to Houston in 1946 where together built their home and raised five children. Jacqueline had many careers; she was a homemaker, clerk, cashier, realtor and nurse. She and her husband moved to Fairfield in December of 1984. They enjoyed many years of traveling after their retirement. They visited every state in the union including Alaska and Hawaii. They also traveled to the United Kingdom visiting England, Ireland and Wales. After 58 years of marriage Mr. Pratt passed away suddenly in 2001. Jacqueline remarried on February 3, 2003 to Earl Powers of Teague. Together they visited many area nursing homes sharing their love of the Lord. Jacqueline loved typing the word and completed typing the entire Holy Bible for their Bible study groups. She loved flowers, birds and lived her life to the fullest. She will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband, Jacqueline was preceded in death by her father, Earl Cowell in 1957; her mother, Thelma Urech in 2002; step-father, Ernest Urech of St. Charles, Missouri in 1996; a great-grandson, Coleman in 2003 and most recently a son, Robert Emmett Pratt on April 2, 2010. Grandsons and grandson-in-law will serve as pallbearers. Survivors include her husband, Earl of Teague; four children, Patricia Ann Pratt of Fairfield; David Earl Pratt and wife Melissa of Tolar, TX; Sharon Pratt Gross and husband Kenton of Fairfield; Michael John Pratt and wife Michelle of Fairfield; a brother, Ernest Urech and wife Majil of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Sarah and Amy Pratt of Tolar; Jacqueline Leanne Pratt-Gross of Fairfield; Jon C. Wood and wife April of Ft. Worth; Michael Jacob Pratt, John Eli Pratt and Zachary Aaron Pratt of Fairfield; Jean Marie Wickham of Seoul, South Korea; Robert E. Pratt, Jr. of North Richland Hills; Rebecca Ann Pratt Coleman and husband Jon of Cleburn; Tammy Pratt Cullum and husband Chris of North Richland Hills; great-grandchildren, Nathan and Melanie Coleman of Cleburne; Vincent Little of North Richland Hills; nieces and nephew, Mandy, Brea and Barry Urech of St. Charles, Missouri.
