(Elizabeth Alexander) Elizabeth Price died peacefully at Presbyterian Village North on Tuesday September 9, 2008 at the age of 96. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in July, 2005, she lived a remarkably full life to the very end. Elizabeth was born in Teague, Texas on September 3, 1912, to loving parents Ernest and Ida Fowler Alexander. She was a graduate and loyal alumna of San Jacinto High School, Houston, Texas, and of The University of Texas at Austin, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She married Richard James Price on October 29, 1936. During the years they lived in Dallas and Houston, Elizabeth was active in many civic and cultural organizations: Kappa Kappa Gamma (president of the Dallas Alumnae Association, Theta Province Director of Chapters); Lovers Lane United Methodist Church (Administrative Board Trustee); President, United Meth- odist Women); Dallas Woman's Club; Mary K. Craig Class; American Institute of Textile Arts (Board of Directors); Dallas Needlework and Textile Guild; Embroiderers' Guild of America; Dallas Antiques and Fine Arts Society; Bayou Bend Docent Organization; Friends of Bayou Bend; Friends of Winterthur; Friends of Historic Deerfield; and Friends of Decorative Arts, the Dallas Museum of Art. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years; infant son, Thomas A. Price; grandson, Stephen W. Billings. She is survived by her sister Frances (Mrs. Wilber W. Hawkins) and all the extended Hawkins family; her daughters Anne Billings of McKinney, TX, and Virginia Price and her husband Allen Heaton of Lincoln City, OR.; grandchildren Richard Billings and his wife Kathy, David Billings and his wife Margaret (all of McKinney, TX), Chris Colwick and his wife Jessica, of San Francisco, CA. Great-grand- children are Rick, Kyle, and Stefani Billings; David, Michael, and Maggie Billings; Josephine and Vivien Colwick. Elizabeth's family is grateful beyond measure for the countless friends who helped her maintain an active, involved life during these last three years; her devoted companion Teresa Cortes; the superb oncology team of Dr. Robert Mennel, nurse Wanda Strange, and special friend, Pam W. on the 3rd floor; the entire staff at Presbyterian Village North; and the tender, loving care of Tammy Moore, R.N., and Linda, Ellen, Brenda, Paula, Kenneth, Delia, Alice, Anges, and Esther from VITAS Hospice. A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will be held at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church on Monday, September 15, 2008, at 2:00PM.
