Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Corley Funeral Home wrote for Freestone County Times newspaper Noragene (Taylor) Pruitt Noragene Taylor Pruitt, 88, of Fairfield, died Friday, October 18, 2013 at her residence surrounded by loving family. Services were held Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. Interment followed at Fairfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Shipp, John Shipp, Donald Head, John David Altman, Lindale Phillips, Mark Chavers and Tommy Miller. Honorary bearers were Bill Labenske and Glendale Black. Mrs. Pruitt was born April 19, 1925 in Norton, Texas; to parents Loy Cecil and Della Mason Taylor. She was a teacher of math and English for 41 years and retired from Fairfield I.S.D. in 1990. From 1952 until 2006 she served as a preacher’s wife. She cared for her daughters and did the best she could to love them and let them know they were loved. She lovingly cared and provided for daughter Cynthia for 55 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elena Roe Taylor Sharpes and Nita Taylor Dry and her husband, Bro. Donald F. Pruitt who died on their 63rd wedding anniversary. Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Carolyn D. Pruitt of Milton, DE; Janice D. McCalman and husband Joe of Cypress, TX; Cynthia E. Pruitt of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Chris McCalman of Fairfield; Lara McCalman Shipp and husband John of Baytown; two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Michael Shipp.
