Freestone County, Texas Obituaries LOIS BELLE QUARLES 2011-06-23 / Obituaries Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Bowers Funeral Home of Teague for Mrs. Lois Belle Quarles, 96, of Teague who died June 20. Interment will follow at Faulkenberry Cemetery of Groesbeck. Mrs. Quarles was born February 18, 1915, in Valley Mills to Victor Hugh and Mittie Irene Duckett Roberson as the second of twelve children. She married Jasper Kennedy and shared 26 years with him before being separated by his death. Mrs. Quarles worked as a clerk at Bond’s Dry Goods Store in Groesbeck for 28 years. In 1960, she married Norvell Quarles and they moved to Teague where they spent 29 years together before his death. While in Teague, Mrs. Quarles worked for Peyton Brother’s Dry Goods until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Teague for more than 50 years. Mrs. Quarles was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; five brothers and two sisters. She is survived by sisters Lou Phillips of Waco, Janyce Rhodes of Houston, Wanda Siebern of Euless and Marlene Parma and husband Rudy of Groves; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation is Thursday beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating services is the Reverend Alan Van Hooser. Making arrangements is Bowers Funeral Home of Teague.
