Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper May 14, 2009 Ruby (Chancellor) Raby Funeral services were held Saturday for Ruby Raby, 73, of Groesbeck who died Friday, May 1, at a local hospital. Mrs. Raby was born in Fairfield on Aug. 20, 1935 to George and Onie (Fails) Chancellor. She was employed for several years with the Dallas Times Herald before working at Fairfield's Big Brown Steam Electric Station. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, at Chancellor Union Cemetery, near Fairfield Lake State Park. Mrs. Raby is survived by her husband, Emmett Wilburn Raby of Groesbeck; nieces, Jody Nolen of Tyler and Donna Furlow of Cedar Hill; and nephews, King Chancellor of Chandler, Steve Chancellor of Kaufman, and Bobby Chancellor of Kirvin; stepson, Dr. Fred Raby and wife, Penny of Hewitt, stepdaughter, Lynda Davidson and husband, Mike of Allen; stepgrandson, Ken Davidson and wife, Tricia of Dallas; step-granddaughters, D'Anna Hebert and husband, David of Allen, Casey Vandersee and husband, James of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and three great- granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis Barker; sister, Retha Mae Chancellor; and brothers Jack & King Chancellor. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Lake Shore Funeral Home in Waco.
