He was born in Eliza, Ga. came to Texas 29 years ago and married Miss Eva Miller in 1896. To this union five boys and two girls were born. Two sons preceded him in death. He united with the Methodist church 1901 and 18 months later he moved his membership to the Baptist Church remaining with them until his death. The family desires to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many friends and especially Drs. Headlee and Suttle for their untiring services which they rendered so patiently. We wish to say he was a husband and a father of a true type and a most worthy citizen, highly respected by all who knew him. He was one of which the writer can say he never heard anyone speak one word that was not praise. He endured his affliction with great patience and expressed his unspeakable confidence and faith in his master till the very last. He remarked that he had a home in heaven and asked his weeping wife not to cry. To the bereaved companion and children we wish to say that he is not dead, only sleeping. If we should lie down tonight and on awakening in the morning should be in the possession of mansions and with every need supplied would it not be a great blessin? When brother Oscar awakes in the morning of resurrection and possession of a mansion, heir to the king and the lord says we shall be satisfied. We are sure of the fact that if he could speak to his family he would tell them to be reconciled and comforted for he is now resting in the arms of Jesus peacefully asleep. Earth's loss is heavens gain. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walker and interment was made in Salem cemetery. A large audience was presence and their love of friendship was manifested in many ways. Claud Burnett
