Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - Friday, February 27, 1925 Page: 1 MR. JAMES F. READ DIES FROM ILLNESS FOLLOWING ATTACK OF FLU James F. Read, aged 49, died at his home a few miles Northwest of Fairfield last Friday afternoon, Mr. Read had been up front an attack of flu a few days before he was stricken with the illness that caused his death. On Tuesday night he was taken sick again, and he rapidly grew worse in spite of every effort, death occurring about 4:00 in the afternoon, and is reported to have been caused by pneumonia. His remains were interred in the Stewards Mill cemetery Sunday, Rev. I. O. Dent and Rev. Simpson conducting services. He is survived by his wife and two sons. One daughter was killed a few months ago when a train struck the auto in which she was riding in Dallas. Mr. Read was a good man and a good citizen. He was of a quiet, orderly disposition and highly respected by all who knew him. His death was a great shock to his family and friends.
