Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mr. James Reid Graveside services for Mr. Jim (James) Reid, 77, were held on Monday, March 31, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin. Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiated and Masonic Rites was given by members of Boggy Lodge #739. Visitation was on Monday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral procession lined up at 3:30 p.m. at travel to the cemetery. Mr. Reid passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Teague Nursing Home. He was born in California and moved around to numerous states and towns with his father’s construction job as a child. He spent most of his teenage years in Arkansas where he attended school. He went to work in construction and equipment hauling and moved to Teague in 1969 while delivering heavy equipment for the construction of the Big Brown Power Plant in Fairfield. Mr. Reid later worked overseas and became an off shore construction superintendent and later a consultant until his wife became ill and he remained close to home. He had a passion for cars and rebuilt and restored numerous antique cars and enjoyed going to car shows and auto events with his cars for many years. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his grandchildren. Mr. Reid was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a Methodist most of his life, and recently attended the Cowboy Church. He is survived by one daughter, Kathie Finley & husband Richard; three sons, Jim Reid & wife Leslie, Kenneth Reid & wife Debbie, and Mike Reid & wife Kara all of Teague; twelve grandchildren, Cooper Finley, Rachel Richardson, Justin Reid, Justin Venable, Megan Venable, Wade Venable, Madison Reid, Bobbie Jo Morgan, Kayla Reid, Marc Reid, Cory Reid, and Mikenna Reid; five great- grandchildren, Kelli Jo Richardson, Callie Richardson, Leah Beth Reid, Coy Morgan, and Brandon Morgan; one brother, A. J. Reid & wife Henrietta of Marshall, Arkansas; one sister, Marie Brightman of Odessa; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi Reid; one grandson, Jason Turner; one brother, Roy “Buddy” Reid; and his parents, Roy & Emma Reid.
