Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Ardie Earl Richard [Oct 25, 1909 to Jan 27, 1988] Funeral services were held Saturday for Ardie Earl Richard, 78, of Fairfield who died last Wednesday. Mr. Richard was born Oct 25, 1909, to Robert and Samelia Richard and was reared in the Owen Chapel Community where he attended public schoo and Shiloh Baptist Church. He was married to Rosie Tarlton on Nov. 11, 1929. She preceded him in death. Mr. Richard was an active member of Fairfield Baptist Church, serving through the years as Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the deacon board, treasurer of the church bus fund, chairman of the Lebanon Association trustee board, president of the brotherhood and on the church finance committee and as presidet of the citywide male chorus. Services were held Saturday an burial was at Fairfield Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers were J. C. Cox, Clyde Hatcher, Dexter Owens, Morris Proctor, Eugene Johnson, Jr., Morris Washington, McKinley Averhart and Woodrow English. Honorary pallbearers were Willie Solomon, Millard Marsh, David Golden, Joe Johnson, Isiah Carden and William McIlveen. Mr. Richard is survived by a daughter, Lee Earl Johnson of Fairfield; a son-in- law, Edward Johnson Sr., of Fairfield; two grandsons, Edward Johnson Jr. of Desoto and Randall Lee Johnson of Fairfield; granddaughter-in-law Barbara Jean Johnson of DeSoto; great-granddaughter Elisia Jeanae Johnson of DeSoto; two brothers, Allen and Richard, both of Tucumcari, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.
