Freestone County, Texas Obituaries [Larry Wade Riddle] Fairfield Recorder December 23, 2010 LARRY WADE RIDDLE Funeral services were held Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Krugerville in Aubrey for Larry Wade Riddle, 64, of Denton county who died Dec. 18 in his home surrounded by his family after a long battle against Pancreatic cancer. Interment followed on Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin. Mr. Riddle was born Dec. 7, 1946 to D.A. and Frances Mardell Messick Riddle in Bennington, OK. He attended school in Brownfield, TX and Bennington, OK. Mr. Riddle served in the U.S. Army and in the Vietnam War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Good Conduct Medal, and was cited as a rifle Sharpshooter. After completion of service, he attended Lincoln Technical Institute and worked briefly as a mechanic. Mr. Riddle met and married Sheila Davis in 1969 in Dallas and they settled their home and family in Sanger. He made his career as a firefighter with the City of Dallas Fire Department from 1970 until his retirement in 1999. Mr. Riddle was also a PRCA calf-roper and later a tournament fisherman and fishing guide. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and could often be seen riding it in jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt from Sanger to Denton, Valley View, and even Pilot Point. Mr. Riddle also enjoyed his guitar with family and friends, especially the moments spent attempting to teach is granddaughter, Courtney, how to play or singing with his daughters, Daphne and Amanda. He is preceded in death by his father; brother D.A. Riddle, Jr.; and sister Linnie Toles. Mr. Riddle is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Sheila; daughters and granddaughter Daphne Riddle Swarts of Denton, Amanda Riddle Abercrombie and husband Jason of Irving, and Courtney Lynn Swartz of Denton; his mother Frances Riddle Conner of Lake Dallas; sister Jeannie Hall; brothers Eugene Riddle and Bobby Riddle; aunts Anna Dewett and Jimmie Friloux of Southern Oklahoma; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family; and loved ones. Officiating funeral service was Sam Redfearn. Making arrangements was Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors of Denton.
