Roller, Sr. Passed Away Last Friday, After Many Months of Illness Freestone county lost, last Friday, in the death of Geo. Roller, Sr., at his home in Fairfield, one of its pioneer citizens., Mr. Roller had been declining for many years, and the end had been expected for quite awhile. He leaves a wife and several grown sons and daughters. Deceased was born in the state of New York, 88 years ago. He came to Texas at an early day, settling first in Northeast Texas. Fifty years ago he came to Fairfield and engaged in the mercantile business, and for many years conducted one of the largest retail businesses in East Central Texas. His first consignment of goods was shipped up the Trinity river on a steamboat to Pine Bluff and brought from there to Fairfield by ox team.
