Dead – Mr. Thomas Roper, who was confined several weeks in jail here was taken 
sick last week with pneumonia, and died last Tuesday morning. The old man was 
charged with stealing cattle, but we know very little of the nature of the case. 
He had succeeded in making bond, about the time he got sick, but could not then 
be removed with safety. His remains were taken to Ward Prairie for interment.
