Michael Ross, who was in town to attend the Missionary Baptist General Convention, was found unconscious in the Plaza Hotel swimming pool after 10 p.m. Monday. College Station Fire Department spokesman Bart Humphreys said bystanders were performing CPR on Michael when emergency personnel arrived about 10:30 p.m. He was transported to St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan, where he was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m., police said. Authorities believe Michael was swimming with friends before the 3- to 8-foot- deep pool closed at 10 p.m. Police said he could have been unconscious as long as 30 minutes before he was discovered. The death is believed to have been an accident, officers said. Others attending the Missionary Baptist General Convention gathered by the pool Tuesday morning to hold a prayer vigil. Conference coordinator Ann Boney said Michael and his parents were on the minds of everyone at the convention throughout the day Tuesday. "We are constantly in prayer for the family," Boney said. Management at the hotel would not comment other than to express "full sympathy for the parents and the family." The swimming pool remained closed Tuesday for draining and maintenance. Some people on Tuesday blamed the pool's cloudy water and lack of lighting for the length of time it took to discover Michael. ========================================================= Waco Tribune-Herald 7/26/2007 Funeral services for Micheal Ross, son of Robert Earl and Rose Ross, will be 3 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at the First Baptist Church 303 S.
