Bowers Funeral Home web site John I. Rouse III (October 4, 1936 - March 26, 2012) Funeral services for Mr. John I. Rouse were held on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 2:00p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Rev. Alan Van Hooser officiated. Interment followed the services at Shanks Cemetery near Kirvin. Mr. Rouse passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012, at Limestone Medical Center in Groesbeck. He was born in Waco on October 4, 1936, and attended elementary school there. He moved with his family to Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School with the Class of 1958. Mr. Rouse served in the U.S. Navy for six years and enjoyed a thirty-one year career as a Sales Representative for Nabisco until his retirement in 1992. He moved to Kirvin in 1992. Mr. Rouse was a true gun enthusiast and member of the N.R.A. He loved collecting guns and practicing quick draw with pistols. He also enjoyed putting his jeep to the test through mud and running over trees. Mr. Rouse loved listening to old country and hillbilly music. He was a Methodist by faith. He is survived by his wife, Shelia Rouse of Kirvin; two daughters, Melissa Mager of Georgetown and Michelle Rouse Newman & husband James of Giddings; two sons, Shiloh Baker of Forrest Grove, Oregon and Dustin Baker & wife Kelly of Kirvin; six grandchildren, Clinton Mager, Skyler Newman, Jazmin Newman, Trenton Newman, Addison Newman, and Brayden Baker; other cousins and friends. Mr. Rouse was preceded in death by his parents, John I. Jr. & Grace Rouse; and one son, Clinton Rouse.
