Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Nacogdoches Chronicle newspaper October 18, 1853 issue OBITUARY Whereas it has pleased an Allwise Creator and Governor of the Universe to take from the state of action and usefulness among us, our much beloved and highly esteemed companion Simon Z. Sanford, of Mount Vernon chapter, No. 25, who died in Freestone county, Texas, on the 15th day of July, in the 26th year of his age; Therefore - Resolved, 1, That as a token of our respect for his memory, and the bright example he set among us while living, the Companions of Mount Vernon Chapter will wear the usual badges of mourning for thirty days. Resolved, 2, That a copy of these proceedings be sent to Pine Bluff Lodge, No 85, as a token of esteem and thankfulness to those Brothers for their untiring attention to our deceased Brother, during his last illness and burial. Resolved, 3, That as an evidence of ouresteem of his good qualities and many virtues, and of our sympathy with them in their great loss, a copy of these resolutions and preamble be sent to his parents.
