Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Joseph Stanley Satagaj Nov 28, 1925 - Dec 24, 2005 JOSEPH STANLEY SATAGAJ Joseph Stanley Satagaj passed away December 24, 2005. He was a resident of San Antonio for the past 41 years. Joe was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in St. Elmo. He attended church at Dodd Chapel, Fort Sam Houston. Son of Polish immigrants, Joe proudly served in the Army for over 30 years in various positions. His service during the Korean Conflict, as a medic, earned him a Bronze Star for courage in rescuing wounded soldiers. He also served in Vietnam. He retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. “Pop” was a devout family man and an exceptional cook. It was apparent to all that he loved his country, his family, and his kitchen. Survivors include: daughter, Sallie Ann Satagaj and husband Walter Reinhard, Jr of Lockhart; son, John M. Satagaj and wife Sue Milner Satagaj of Colorado Springs, their children Julie of Lubbock and Brian of Frisco; son, Joseph S. Satagaj, Jr. and wife Rita M. Satagaj of Rowlett, their daughters Lisa of Plano, Elizabeth and husband Steve Wood of Plano, and Kimberly of Rowlett; three brothers, Frank Satagaj, Teddie Satagaj, Eddie Satagaj, all of Connecticut; two sisters, Frances Strukus of Connecticut and Carol Restelli of California; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Sallie Oletha Pillans Satagaj; his parents John Stanley Satagaj and Anna Rys Satagaj; his brothers Stanley Satagaj and Bernie Satagaj; his sisters Mary Walicki, Anne Bartosiak, and Rose Slisz. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
