Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder - January 20, 2011 ALMA (HAPPY) SAVAGE Funeral services were held Saturday at Eight Avenue Baptist Church in Teague for Alma (Happy) Savage, 74, of Teague who died Jan. 12 at her residence in Teague. Interment followed at Salem Cemetery in Donie, near Freestone. Mrs. Savage was born July 2, 1936 in Freestone to William A. and Lena Lampier McLeod. She married Bill (Squib) Savage and shared over fifty-one years together. Mrs. Savage retired from TUFCO in 1994 and went directly to work for the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office. In 2004, she was named Employee of the Year and retired in 2006. She made many lifelong friends during these years. Mrs. Savage enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with friends but most of all she enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother J.P. McLeod; and sisters Dorothy Pecot and Bonnie Voisin. Mrs. Savage is survived by daughters Jay Vickers and husband Jimmy of Longview and Mandi Ivy and husband Keith of Tyler; son Joe Savage and wife Trudy of Taylor; Grandchildren Matt Maisen and partner Brian Newton, J.D., Jamie, Emily, and Carly Vickers, Taylor, Sydney, and Austin Savage, Emily and Sam Ivy; brother Johnny McLeod and wife Hilda of Fairfield; sister-in-law Tommie Bloxom of Fairfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends Iva Carroll, Linda Allison, Belinda Soules, and Katy (Katy Bug) Kamininski.
