Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper July 2, 2009 Hazel Schill Funeral services were held last week for Hazel Schill, 92, who died Monday, June 22, at her residence near Donie. Mrs. Schill was a dedicated homemaker who loved her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. She had her own greenhouse where she spent her time raising plants and flowers from both cuttings and seeds. Mrs. Schill spent many hours tending to her garden. She was a Baptist by faith and lived the last 14 years of her life on her family's ranch, S.W. & S. Cattle Company, near Donie. Services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague with Benny Mize officiating. Interment followed at Union Cemetery near Freestone. Mrs. Schill is survived by her son, Don Schill and wife Mary Jane of Donie; grandchildren, Craig Schill and wife Elyse of Donie, Debby Smith and husband Steve of Tomball, and Kyle Schill and wife Shay Robinson; great-grandchildren, Kimberly Fulp and husband Justin of Crawford, Trent Smith of College Station, Daniel Schill of Donie, Tyler Smith and Kaitlin Smith, both of Tomball, Taylen Wallis and Laken Schill, both of Robinson; greatgreat grandson, Jacob Fulp of Crawford; caregiver, Minerva Solomon; sister in-law, Dorothy Matthew of Houston; and nephews, Jeff Fowle and Jim Matthew, both of Houston, and Bill Jackson of Taylor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Schill. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
