Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper - Thursday, October 4, 1956 issue Death Claims Mrs. J. N. Scott After Long Illness Mrs. J.N. (Miss Brownie) Scott, 84, died at the home of her son R.H. Scott, Friday night at about 6 o'clock after an illness of several years. Funeral services were held from Calvary Baptist Church Saturday afternoon with the Rev. George Conn, pastor, and the Rev. James Morgan, pastor of Kirvin Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed at the Driver Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael Scott, Fairfield; Burford Scott, Sulphur Springs; Carroll Scott, Groesbeck, and Jimmy McLeod, Dallas, all grandsons; and Alton Talbott, Fairfield, and Roy Green, Dallas. Mrs. Scott was born Feb. 20, 1872, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Carroll, of the Pyburn community. Mrs. Carroll was born in England. Mrs. Scott resided in Fairfield before going to Galena Park where she lived with her daughter, Mrs. E.L. Warnell, for several years. She returned to Fairfield about four months before her death. Survivors include three sons, R.H. Scott and J.B. Scott of Fairfield; T.S. Scott, Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Warnell, Galena Park; Mrs. W.R. McLeod, Fairfield; and Mrs. R.E. Brisendine, Winslow, Ariz.; a number of grandchildren, great- grandchildren and friends. Capps Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
