Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Briar Shane Scruggs (September 19, 1993 - August 7, 2013) U.S. Veteran Briar Shane Scruggs, 19 of Streetman, passed away August 7, 2013 in Jal, New Mexico. Funeral services will be Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church Wortham with Reverend Justin Colquette officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Kirvin. Visitation with the family present will be Sunday evening 5-7 p.m. at First Baptist Church Wortham. Briar was born September 19, 1993 in Corsicana, Texas. He graduated Wortham High School in 2012. He was Homecoming King, had a distinguished high school football career and was a mentor for kids without fathers program. He was a member of Christian FCA and a little league coach. Briar loved to play his harmonica, loved to hunt and was a true country boy thru and thru and was known as “Bubba” to many.
