Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper April 30, 2009 Nelson W. Seeber, Jr. Funeral services were held last Wednesday for Nelson W. Seeber, Jr., 84, of Freestone who died Monday, April 20, in his residence. Mr. Seeber was born in Vidor and raised in Dallas where he graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a B-29 crew chief and flew in operations in China, India, and the Marianna Islands during World War II. On Oct. 3, 1946 he married his wife Laura and together they shared over 62 years of marriage. Before his retirement, Mr. Seeber worked as a field representative for both General Motors and Chrysler. In 1970, he purchased a ranch near Freestone where he raised cattle. Mr. Seeber was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 1218 in Irving for over 60 years. He was also a member of the Irving First Baptist Church. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, in the chapel at Union Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Powers officiating. Interment followed at Union Cemetery. Mr. Seeber is survived by his wife, Laura Seeber of Freestone; daughter, Gail Seeber of Freestone; sisters, Marcelle Durbin of San Antonio and Edith Smith of Liberty; brother, Thomas Quitman Martin and wife Ione of Madisonville; four nieces; two nephews; and numerous great-nieces and greatnephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Duncan Curtis Martin and C.W. Seeber. Arrangements were made under the direction of Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
