Freestone County, Texas Fairfield Recorder - May 18, 2006 edition David L. Sheppard David L. Sheppard died Friday at his home in Teague at the age of 77. Funeral services were held Sunday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Powers officiating. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mr. Sheppard was born January 22, 1929 to Leslie and Lillian Sheppard. He graduated from Teague high school in 1946 and worked at BN Railroad as a conductor for 43 years; he retired in 1990. A lifelong resident of Teague, Mr. Sheppard was born and died in the same house on Fourth Avenue. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed raising cattle for many years. Mr. Sheppard married Chotcie Lambert on February 20, 1948. Surviving Mr. Sheppard are his wife Chotcie of Teague and daughters Susan Beaver and husband Paul of Teague and Shari Dickens of Bryan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lelsie Sims of Teague, Kayla Craig of Tehuacana, David Beaver of Fairfield, Jana Grady of Combine and Leah Beaver of Dallas; great grandchildren Morgan, Mallorie and Mollie Sims, Lilah and Caroline Craig and Lily Beaver and special friend L. C. Scott of Teague. Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by his parents Leslie and Lillian Sheppard and great granddaughter Brittnee Sims. Casket bearers were Colby Grady, Todd Craig, David Beaver, Shannon Sims, Jerry Maggard and Scott Holmes. Arrangements were by Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
