Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Maudine (Feist) Sherber Maudine Sherber of Fairfield passed away February 28, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side at the age of 66. She was born in Houston, Texas to James Alton Feist and Phyrene Shawn Feist on May 24, 1947. She married Sam Sherber on August 19, 1967 in Houston. Maudine was always in youth activities, whether it involved her own children or others from the community. She was President of the Durkee PTA, worked with the North Houston National Little League (Baseball and Softball), established Maudine’s Soda Shop in Fairfield in 1984 and 1985 that provided a place for the area kids to gather and was active with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 2872 as Youth Coordinator where she also helped raise money for homeless veterans. She is preceded in death by her parents James Alton Feist and Phyrne Thompson, brother Alton Joe Feist, sister Deborah Thompson and daughter Athena Charline Sherber. She is survived by her husband of 46 years Sam Sherber of Fairfield. Children: Paulette Moore and her husband Rex, Sam l. (Sambo) Sherber Jr. and his wife Stephanie and Susan Ethelyn Roberson. Grandchildren: Samantha L. Sherber, Jessie Roberson, Mason Roberson, Katy Sherber, Chloe Sherber and Kylee Sherber. She is also survived by her sisters Eddie Lou Feist and Darline Ray and her husband Rex and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family was held Monday afternoon March 3, 2014 from 2 - 4pm at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield with funeral services at 4pm in the Chapel. Burial was Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2pm at Brookside Memorial Park in Houston. Pallbearers were Jason Sherber, Scott Leatherman, Mason Roberson, Rusty Carey, Jack Carey, Brian Granberry and Randy Rowlett.
