Odessa American newspaper - Tuesday, January 03, 2006 edition Estes G. “Buddy” Shivers Sr. WORTHAM Estes G. “Buddy” Shivers Sr., 94, passed away, Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, while residing at Live Oak Nursing Home in George West. He was born June 5, 1911, in Tehuacana, Texas. Estes, or Buddy as he was known to his friends, worked for more than 50 years in the oilfields of East Texas, Southeast New Mexico and West Texas. He lived in Lovington, N.M. and Hobbs N.M., however, Odessa, Texas, where he lived later in his life was considered his home. Estes was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Riley Shivers, and two sons, E.G. “Gil” Shivers Jr. and Larry Shivers. He is survived by one granddaughter, Debbie McClure of Logan, N.M. and grandsons, Phil Shivers of Midland, Stacy Shivers of San Antonio, Dave Shivers of Logan, N.M. and Doug Shivers Caudle of Truth or Consequences, N.M. Buddy is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Wortham with the Rev. James Mack Strange officiating. Pallbearers will be Terry Don Shivers, Jimmie Shivers, George Shivers, Randy Bates, Bill Shivers and Dickie Thornton. Honorary pallbearer is Christopher Shivers. Services are entrusted to Porter Funeral Home of Mexia.
