[18 yr old when he died.  Tombstone at Woodland Cemetery at Kirvin lists him as 
"Little Joe".  Tombstone lists him as son of J. G. and C. A. . Date conflict - 
Tombstone says Oct. 21, 1905 while the obit says Oct. 16, 1905.]

    The little afflicted Joe Shumate who died on the 16th was buried in Woodland 
cemetery.
