Bro. Scott Matthews officiated. Interment followed the services at Oakes Cemetery. Dennis “Poppa” Skinner passed away on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Skilled Care of Mexia with his beloved wife, Marsha Skinner, and lifelong friend, J.C. Crundwell, by his side. Born in Corsicana, Texas, Dennis moved around the Arlington and Teague areas before joining the United States Air Force in 1973. He was first stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, where his first son was born, and later relocated to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, where his second son was born. He proudly served six years in the Air Force, reaching the rank of Staff Sergeant and working as a Training Instructor, often serving alongside his best friend, Donnie Blanks. After completing his military service, Dennis managed warehouses before moving his family back home to Teague, Texas. There, he became an owner-operator of dump trucks and eighteen-wheelers, working on shutdowns, offshore drilling rigs, and eventually finding his true calling in sales. Above all else, Dennis’s greatest joy in life was his family, his wife Marsha, his two sons, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he would proudly talk about to anyone who would listen. His passion for cars and swap meets was unmatched, and he never missed a chance to connect over his favorite hobbies. Though he looked like a big, burly man, Poppa had the heart of a teddy bear, kind, gentle, and always ready to lend a hand. One of the things he cherished most was Sunday dinner surrounded by his sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Dennis is survived by his wife, Marsha Skinner; his sons, Chris Skinner and wife Audra, and Clint Skinner and wife Kristin, all of Teague; his brother, Jimmy Mobley and wife Betty; and his sister, Kay Milieur and husband Robert; Grandchildren, Austin Skinner and wife Hannah, Ally Davis and husband Jaylon, Tori Skinner, and Brice Skinner; and four Great-Grandchildren, Caden Skinner, Tate Davis, Barrett Skinner, and Parker Davis. He was preceded in death by his little brother, Ray Skinner, and his parents, Harold and Irene Skinner.
