Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Fairfield Recorder July 23, 2007 Kenneth L. Smith Funeral services were held Friday, July 13 for former Fairfield postmaster Kenneth L. Smith, 67, of Bullard who died Tuesday, July 10 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Mr. Smith was born July 8, 1940 in Tyler to the late Dee and Bessie Smith. He was a member and teacher at Southside Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Tyler High School and attended Tyler Junior College after serving three years in the U.S. Army. He worked for the Tyler post office for 23 years, and also in Oakwood and Fairfield before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed singing, studying the Bible and spending time with his family. He sang in the Senior Moments Gospel Quartet. Services were conducted at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home, with Drs. Forest Smith and Mark Price officiating. Burial was at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery in Tyler. Pallbearers were Deacons of Southside Baptist Church, and honorary pallbearers were "The Noah" men's class at Southside Baptist Church. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Smith of Bullard; three sons, David Smith and wife Karol of Keller, Danny Smith and wife Robin of Whitehouse, and Dee Smith and wife Judy of Whitehouse; six grandchildren, Hope, Payton, McKenlee, Drew, Tanner and Tristan; a brother, Marlin and wife Pat of Athens; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Gayle Smith, Murrell Smith, and Waymond "Joy" Smith. Memorials in his honor may be made to Southside Baptist Church, or a charity of choice. Arrangements were made by Stewart Family Funeral Home.
