Wesley Godbey Smith

Services for Wesley Godbey Smith, 94, of Fairfield, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at 
First Baptist Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Mack Roller officiating. Burial 
will be in Fairfield Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Capps 
Memorial Chapel in Fairfield. Mr. Smith died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002.

He was born Nov. 13, 1908 in Hemphill to Thomas and Fannie Smith. Mr. Smith was 
a member of First Baptist Church of Fairfield.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Smith of Fairfield; son, John Wesley Smith of 
Teague, stepdaughter, Cynthia Lancaster of Spring; stepson, Chris Wirtz of 
Streetman; sisters, Irene Blake of Fort Worth and Anna Mae Moss of Bedford; 
brothers, Harold K. Smith of Fort Worth and Thomas W. Smith of Anaheim, Calif.; 
three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Terry Bagley, Jodie Sanders, Dickie Hall, Ron Pearce, Denny 
Kingsley, Ronnie Tanner, Kenneth Book and David McLeod. Honorary pallbearers 
will be John Wilson, Roger Pruett, members of “Next to Heaven” Sunday School 
Class; Gene Lyles and Monte Cole.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First Baptist Church 
Christian Life Center of Fairfield.
