Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder March 08, 2008 Cecil Smitherman Funeral services were held this week for Cecil Smitherman, 73, of Lanely who died Saturday, March 1, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Mr. Smitherman was born in Buffalo on March 16, 1934 to parents Garland and Eva Smitherman and he married Nila Long on Aug. 18, 1951. Mr. Smitherman was employed for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, at Corinth Baptist Church in Dew with Paul Pryor and Carl Clark officiating. Interment was at Dew Cemetery. Mr. Smitherman is survived by wife Nila Long Smitherman of Lanely; daughter Cecelia Joy Wells and husband Samuel of Cold Spring; sons Michael Smitherman and wife Katheryn of Livingston, Steven Smitherman and wife Robin of Midlothian; Gary Smitherman and wife Karen of Humble; grandchildren Rhonda, Jeff, Amanda, Jason, Jennifer, David, Keri, Katelyn, Trevor, Jared, and Craig; eight great grandchildren; sisters Buna Pruett of Jewett, Josie Price of Dew, and Opal Barnett of Franklin; and brothers Frank Martin of Buffalo and Leroy Martin of Milan, New Mexico. He is preceded in death by parents Garland and Eva Smitherman and daughter Sharon Kay Smitherman. Mr. Smitherman was a dedicated family man and always took good care of his family. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo. He is survived by his wife, Nila Long Smitherman of Lanely; one daughter, Cecelia Joy Wells & husband Samuel of Cold Spring; three sons, Michael D. Smitherman & wife Katheryn of Livingston, Steven G.
