Sara Sneed

  Funeral services were held last Saturday for Mrs. Sara Currie (McCreary) Sneed,
87, who died Feb 4 after a long illness.
  Interment at Fairfield Cemetery followed afternoon services at Griffin-Roughton
Funeral Home in Fairfield.  Clay Allard officiated.
  Pallbearers were grandsons James Sneed, Jamal Said, Karin Said, Daniel Henderson,
John Fryer and Sid Fryer.
  Mrs. Sneed was born March 19, 1916 in Lott to Mattie Ada Currie McCreary and 
Joseph Austin McCreary.  She graduated from Lott high school and Daniel Baker 
College in Brownwood, later merged to Austin College in Sherman.
  In Fairfield, she taught elementary school and married James Collett Sneed in
1938.  
  A life long member of the Presbyterian Church, Sara Sneed worked in her 
community, area schools and church until a chronic disease confined her to her 
home.  She held membership with Sunset Presbyterian Church until it closed, then
of Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church.
   For the last two years, she was a resident of Grace Presbyterian Village.  
She was grateful for the kind attention of its staff and the frequent visits by
church members.
  Her survivors include children, Sallie Eugenia Sneed Said of San Antonio and
James Joseph Sneed and wife, Judy of Fairfield; grandchildren: Jamal Said and
wife, Denise Dickinson Said of Schertz, Karim Said of San Antonio currently a 
medicial student in New York, James Sneed and wife, Kara of Lewisville and 
Jessica Sneed Henderson and husband, Daniel Henderson of Corpus Christi; great-
grandchildren Kaitlyn and Alexandra Said.  
  She was preceeded in death by her husband.
  Arrangements were conducted by Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield.
