Freestone County, Texas Obits [Martha Velinda Davis Sneed died Jan 13th] Fairfield Recorder [unknown date] FUNERAL OF MRS. SNEED The remains of Mrs. M. V. Sneed, (whose death was mentioned last week) were buried in the Fairfield Cemetery last Friday about 10'clock, being followed to their last resting place by a large number of grief-stricken relatives and sorrowing friends. The burial ceremony was conducted by Rev. E. J. Brown, of this place, who came from the same county in Georgia that the deceased did, and knew her family well back there. The minister's remarks were very impressive and appropraite for the occasion, and he referred very feelingly to the deceased as a good wife, mother, neighbor, and friend. Mrs. Sneed came to this county with her husband about 1858. They settled three miles west of Fairfield where the family has lived ever since. She was well known in Fairfield and vicinity and had many friends, who were deeply pained at the sad news of her death. Many children and grand children stood around the grave of the kind and loving parent, and sincere were the many evidences of grief that found expression in burning tears and tender, loving words, as weeping ones took a last farewell look at the calm, quiet face that will never be forgotten. It was a sad moment for spectators, too, when the time for final parting came, and the coffin was lowered in its last final resting place. Thos whose hearts were made to bleed by the sad seperation may take consolation and encouragement from the minister's words, and in another and brighter world, can meet their loved ones again.
