Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Lester H. Stacks, Jr. (Died March 2, 2011) U.S. Veteran Funeral services for Mr. Lester H. Stacks, Jr. were held on Saturday, March 5, 2011, at 1:00p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Rev. Paul Neumann officiated. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Mr. Stacks passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his residence in Teague. He was born on May 19, 1922, in Wichita Falls, TX to Lester H. and Jessie (Parks) Stacks. He moved to Elgin at a young age and attended schools there. Lester was a gifted athlete, excelling in all sports. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a member of the 82nd Airborne and fought in the North African Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his return from the war, he married Freddie Mae Haverland on January 24, 1947 and shared over sixty-one years together. Lester & Freddie moved to Teague in 1950. Lester’s career was in the manufacturing and sales of brick and tile. He was an avid golfer and shared the love of the game with his children and grandchildren. After his retirement, he enjoyed cooking and making tamales. Mr. Stacks was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fairfield. He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Randy Stacks & wife Linda of Teague, Meda Beaird & husband Steve of Spring Branch, David Stacks & wife Jan of Lovelady, and Marda Raley & husband Berry of Crawford; nine grandchildren, Derrick Stacks & wife Alicia, Colin Stacks & wife Lindy, Walt Stacks & wife Amber, Steven Beaird & wife Sarah, Mitch Beaird & wife Mandy, Stewart Beaird, Jared Stacks, Jordan Stacks, and Katy Pomykal & husband Clayton; nine great- grandchildren; one sister, Nan Ray of Kansas City, Missouri; one aunt, Julia Harmon of San Marcus; other relatives and friends. Mr. Stacks was preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Stacks, his parents, and three brothers, Billy Joe Stacks, Conus Stacks, and James Stacks.
