(Jimmy) Stearns were held on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 11:00a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Steve Cowart officiated. Interment followed the services at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Mr. Stearns passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009, in Augusta, Georgia from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Mr. Stearns grew up in Teague and worked as a heavy equipment operator on pipelines all of his working life. He was a very hard working, but fun loving man and was known to be a “daredevil”. He loved to ride motorcycles and to travel. He is survived by his father, V. H. (Toby) Stearns of Baytown; one brother, Michael Stearns of Humble; four sisters, Darlene (Sue) Stearns of Baytown, Cheryl Faw & husband Edwin of Midway, Carol Calvert & husband Tim of Gilmer, & Sandy Mansal & husband Curt of Old River; four nephews; three nieces; two aunts; four uncles; numerous cousins and friends. Mr. Stearns was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Stearns; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. H. B. Stearns, and maternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. D. S. Wardwell. "Jimmy" Stearns, 52, of Teague who died May 25 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident that occurred in Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Stearns was raised in Teague and worked as a heavy equipment operator. He spent his free time traveling and was passionate about motorcycles. Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague with Steve Cowart of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed at Salem Cemetery near Freestone. Mr. Stearns is survived by his father, V.H. "Toby" Stearns of Baytown; brother, Michael Stearns of Humble; sisters, Darlene "Sue" Stearns of Baytown, Cheryl Faw and husband Edwin of Midway, Carol Calvert and husband Tim of Gilmer, and Sandy Mansal and husband Curt of Old River; four nephews; three nieces; two aunts; and four uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Stearns; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Stearns; and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D.S. Wardwell.
